Heya.. today I am going to speak about a tunic which I made and love its style. Its from a sewing magazine which I shall talk a lot about in this post, so make sure you read till the end. before that I wanted to mention something that last week I was featured on the pattern review web site as the member in focus. That was something that cheered me up:). Also thanks to all of you sweet ones who appreciated my fuschia layered top. I am working on a tutorial. It will take a while to get it up, so bear with me.Now back to my tunic with a zippered front and double peplum hem with peter pan collar and contrast piping.

I have previously blogged about IW1005 a pretty dress pattern with ruching. I received a lot of compliments on it and a lot of them saying they need to check out that company. How cool is that ! This pattern is the M1364 tunic from the Fall winter issue of the My Image magazine. It has got some great designs for the modern girl! I simply love it. It was random that I chose this pattern. The material suggested was tricot. Now I had to ask my friend Google it out to find out what it meant and some links said it was a kind of cotton with stretch and some said without. So to make sure I chose one size up and made it with woven floral printed cotton fabric without stretch. The floral print is really very pretty and bright which I somehow was unable to capture on the camera.

The pattern sheet is quite a maze. I spent some time musing over the lines of each piece. Then I spent some more efforts tracing it our carefully. Probably this is the only con of a magazine tracing out the patterns. But no pain no gain LOL. The pattern instructions are translated to English(Update: The newer issues of the magazine have better translation so cheers!). Now that I have experience in sewing and assembling the pattern pieces I hardly referred it. The pattern layout was sufficient to me hit the machine to start sewing. The pattern pieces matched perfectly. Kudos to the editors of My Image. I just changed the sleeves a bit and added piping to the collar as well.

I would like to share my thoughts on the magazine. It is released twice a year, once for spring and once for winter. The designs are apt suiting each season style. It has got great photographs, the models are simply beautiful and so cheerful , which inspires me more to make try each and every project. Every issue comes with fifteen to sixteen patterns. In which some four or so will be plus sized. They are really trendy. I am going to make more form this issue and blog about it soon here.

The only minus point I can think of is the tracing out part. But that's not something big either. Personally most of the patterns are for stretch fabrics and I don't have access to any. How I wish LOL! For those with stretch fabrics in your stash I envy you(now that's a joke;))Check out their website here and browse through the issues. You might even fall for the designs and add them to your shopping basket. I am definitely loving this tunic.
I am adding it to the sew book inspired series. I shall add more makes in the near future to this link. So check back if you want more stories.
I might have linked this project to some or all sites here.
Any thoughts ? Let me know in the comments. Gleeful sewing :) Tada

    1. The instructions are text only and in my opinion it is not for a beginner. For simple designs its ok. But for intricate ones we must be more experienced. They ship internationally. So you can always buy one and have a look!
